I really hope that you get the support from the rest of the Zim operators as i can rate it better than any of the South African cources. Our next plan is to get you into our other operations in both Botswana and Namibia. Please let us know once you have ...

After starting my training in SA, coming to Guthrie was a breath of fresh air.  The teaching was far superior in the classroom and in the air.  Thanks to Guthrie for making me a more knowledgeable and safer pilot.  A great atmosphere and very approachable staff.

Guthrie Aviation will always have a special place in my heart, It was there that I first learned that I could do things I never thought possible: standing in front of students and being a Ground Instructor and being able to fly an aeroplane. Even more importantly, it was the place where I learned to connect with other people on a level deeper than schoolwork or flying. I was a part of something ...

I recently got my PPL after thanks to my training at Guthrie Aviation. Due to financial issues it had taken 5 years, punctuated by frequent and often long breaks in between, which was less than ideal. My instructors were fantastic managed my slow progress as best as they could. I was pushed really hard with a mix of both encouragement and harsh admonition which I believe has made me a better ...

To the GAS team! Congratulations on creating a "world class" flight training school....It has been inspirational to see the transformation over the years. I was fortunate enough to do my multi-engine IR last year through the school based on their newly approved IR training course. This new approach made it an absolute pleasure, with ground school and exams being written at the school rather than ...

Guthrie Aviation is the oldest commercially operating flight training school in Zimbabwe.  The school was founded in 1995 by Craig Guthrie who, prior to establishing this school, was involved in training schools since 1988.

Although licensed to conduct Air Charter Operations, the schools main focus has always been on pilot training. The school is approved by and registered with the Ministry of Higher Education.

Numerous pilots have been trained at Guthrie Aviation, most of whom have continued their careers in aviation and are today flying for many of the world’s largest airlines.

The school offers full & part time training for the Private Pilots Licence and the Commercial Pilots Licence, as well as Instrument ratings, night ratings & type conversions (multi-engine and single engine, including tail wheel). The part time training option allows many people to fulfil their dream of learning to fly, whilst continuing with their normal day to day life.

The majority of the training is conducted in Cessna 172’s, with the complex type training being conducted in a Cessna 210.  Multi-engine training is conducted in a Piper Twin Commance or Beachcraft Baron.

All of the schools training material has been developed, over the years, by the dedicated school personnel whose combined experience, exceeds twenty five thousand hours of airborne training.

Training presentations are computerised and the school has it’s own in house computerised testing facility.

The instructors not only have experience in pilot training, but also in charter operations, corporate aviation and scheduled heavy aircraft operations.

Based at Charles Prince Airport in Zimbabwe, the local weather patterns promote flying throughout the year.
